Goodbye California

"The most intense conflicts, if overcome, leave behind a sense of security and calm that is not easily disturbed. It is just these intense conflicts and their conflagration which are needed to produce valuable and lasting results." Carl Jung

This is exactly what had transpired, for me, in the last year. Just as my website fell into the abyss of nothingness and all other plans along with them, a decision had to be made. Was it the pandemic? Did everyone have an identity crisis? I had just tried to garden my way out of it, but other family and community shifts also made me shift.

While trying to help the environment, the community and perhaps even peace on earth, there are counter dreamers and counter dreams out there that must be addressed. Battling is not my way, but championing a cause is. The need to find a better place to do this seemed to push me to change my work environment. In my case, it was time to leave California. Oregon would be my new home.

For my readers that have kindly followed my plant adventures, I appreciate your reconnection. Moving to the Pacific Northwest, seemed to be the right choice. Frankly, I will not die of old age here, but will make it to the dawn of my golden years before finally settling in a warmer climate, one that could support my dreams of expanding my conservation and re-wilding work.

It is with pleasure that I report that there are breathtaking places of beauty here. Nature is mostly respected and admired but every community has work to do, changes to make, awareness to harness. It might seem that collaboration grows stronger by the day. So much to photograph, study and write about in this wild place of waterfalls. I wish you were here! Thank you for connecting. I look forward to sharing my findings and musings with you,

once more.

Have a wonderful New Year!
