Making Incense

ree

Making incense can be your next creative ritual. An example of how to make is shown in the video below with minimal ingredients and natural processing. You may be surprised that you have everything you need already. While this video shows the use of white sage stalks, I could have easily used rosemary, dried cedar fronds, flower petals and more. In the past, I have used clay powder, baking flour and even soaked and blended cardboard to add as a binder. This is a summer project connected to lots of sunshine, however if I make in the winter, I might use an oven on lowest heat setting to dry the cones. For the sake of ecology ( I can be a bit virtuous about this), I prefer natural sources of heating and air drying. I am a self taught incense maker and continue to learn to reuse, repurpose many items from the natural world. Enjoy. Peace friends.
